Memorial Day

Memorial Day was on May 27th and luckily Rob didn't have to work!!  Hallelujah!  Now don't get me wrong, I know what Memorial Day is about and that it's supposed to be more about remembering and less about barbecuing and I totally agree...but Rob had the day off and family was getting together and we had a blast.  It was seriously so nice to have him there all day at a family event and just enjoy the weather and being together.  It really was a great holiday.
I got to start my day off getting ready to this...my babe serenading me. :)  Rob loves to play the guitar and does quite often actually.  The girls love listening to him.  I still love it when he sings to me.
Right around lunchtime we headed over to the Rollins for a family get together.  Alivia was pretty hungry so I got her started first.  I know it looks like she's spitting it out, but she actually just has a lot in her mouth and isn't a very polite eater so you can see it all.  haha  Such a cute girl.
After eating a yummy lunch, I put Alivia down for a nap and then the other kids decided to get in their swimsuits and get wet.  Which I was thinking they were a bit crazy because the high was maybe mid-70's, but you know kids.  Aivree actually proved me right and was wrapped up in a blanket most of the time and changed back into clothes pretty quickly. I swear that girl is always cold.
Grandpa got out his Kid Wash and let the kids run through.  My girls were very hesistant at first.  You can see Aivree wouldn't even look at it for fear of getting some of that cold water in her face.  On Madison is trying to take her in with her, but Aivree bolted at the last second.
Anisten was brave and went through several times before Aivree.  Aivree did finally go through (with the water turned down) and then got wrapped up in her towel.
Aunt Heidi brought some fun learning games for the kids to do while they were swimming.  They loved it.  See, she's a creative mom. :)
After Alivia woke up, we went home and packed a picnic lunch and went to Layton Park to meet Bryce, Janica and Audrey, Janica's parents and my parents for a picnic dinner.  The girls mentioned several times that it was the Best Day Ever.
As soon as we got there, they were somehow drawn like flies to a flame to this lovely playground disaster.  Look at those kids just swarming the thing!?  I don't understand the draw, but my girls were on there 95% of the time and it made me so nervous.  Kids fly off of that thing and get kicked in the head and dragged along the ground.  It's horrible!  Everyone thought I was a little crazy, but I would be much happier without that "toy" in the playground.  (Side note: I do remember loving that disaster when I was a kid.)  And yes, both of my girls got hurt on it.  Nothing serious...but I think my point was proven.
The weather was great, if even a little chilly, and it was fun to throw the frisbee and feed the ducks and just hang out and enjoy each other's company.  We saw this adorable sight down by the duck pond.
The Duck Family!!

Look at those little baby duckies!  So cute
A sweet little family enjoying their day...just like us.
