Field Trip!!

On May 23rd I had the wonderful (and coveted) opportunity to go on a field trip to the Dinosaur Park with Anisten and her Kindergarten class.  The reason it was coveted is because I guess about half of the parents in the class volunteered to come, but only a lucky six were chosen.  I was one of them. :)  I probably got chosen because I haven't volunteered to do anything the entire year until now.  I had a baby five weeks before she started school, give me a break!  Okay, I was feeling a bit guilty about it and Alivia was at a point where she could go longer without me nursing her, so that is why I volunteered this time.  I'm so happy I did too.  It was so much fun.
I'm not gonna lie..getting my three girls and myself ready and two of my girls over to my mom's house and then back to the school by 8:40 with packed lunches for Ani and I wasn't an easy task.  I felt like I'd run a marathon before we'd even started the field trip.  I got my little Volunteer "badge" and received instructions from Ms. Morton.  Then the kindergarteners headed onto the bus and us volunteers carpooled there.  It was an interesting drive for me.  We were all strangers with only our kindergarteners in common, so what do you talk about?  Well, I acted like I knew something about hunting.  It was good to get to know them. :)
I was assigned a group of four kids which was one of the bigger groups.  You wouldn't think that four kids would be too tough to watch, but I'm telling ya..it was tricky!  Luckily I didn't lose anyone...for long. :)
When we first got there we headed upstairs to look at the cool rocks and things.  There is a room of mechanical dinosaurs that are very realistic looking and Anisten was nervous about it.  Once she saw her whole class being brave about it though, she decided to be brave herself.  Way to give in to the peer pressure (and mom pressure).
Once our group understood that we needed to stay together, we had a blast.
They were such a fun group of kids and played so well together
Just look at those dangerous creatures!
This was probably the favorite part of the whole thing.  They loved uncovering those fossils and probably would've stayed there all day if I didn't convince them we'd better look at something else before it was time to go.

It really was such a fun day and I'm so glad I got to share it with my Anisten
