I'm a boring mom with creative kids

I wish I could say that I was one of those creative moms who had a fun learning activity planned for their children to do each day to keep them busy and entertained.  I really wish I was.  Unfortunately, I've maybe planned one crafty activity for them to do ever.  It's something I'm hoping to improve on.  I promise.  But luckily, my children have found ways to entertain themselves despite having a boring mother.  Anisten always comes up with fun crafts and Aivree has such an amazing imagination, I always catch her talking to whoever it is she's seeing in her make believe world.
Here is an example of Anisten's craftiness.  They made these turtles out of paper plates
And this is one of my favorite crafts.  The idea actually came when Aivree went to a friend's house and they made masks from paper plates.  The masks had eyes and a mouth, but when the girls were making them this time, they realized that their noses were getting squished, so they wanted a place for the nose.  I am telling you, I laughed so hard my stomach hurt.

We added bows and hair and I made eyelashes for Aivree's which was a nice addition I thought.  Oh what fun craftiness can be! ;)
We've also made some fun trips to the dollar store, which I never realized until recently has a lot of great stuff!  I picked up these wipes and the girls love helping me dust and clean everything with them.  Here they are cleaning my mirror that has their fingerprints on it constantly.  (Aivree broke this mirror about a week later trying to carry it some random place.)

Every once in a while I'll plan a playdate with a friend and we'll go to McDonalds to play.  Aivree is the one who usually benefits from this because Anisten's at school.  Can you see her up there?  She always makes friends
Another thing that keeps my girls busy every day is this wonderful little thing called books!!  They LOVE to read and look at books.  We got to the library at least once a month and come home with about twenty different books.
Anisten especially (since she's my only reader), is my little bookworm. No joke. That girl reads at meal times, at bed time, going to the bathroom, morning, afternoon and night. We've threatened to take books away just to get her to eat her dinner or go to sleep. I love that she loves to read though, and she's passing on that love to her younger siblings.
One beautiful Spring day while Rob was out of town, we decided to take advantage of the beautifulness (not a word..I'm sure) and go to the park.  This park in West Point has become one of their favorite parks to go to.  We call it the park with the Big Slide.
My cute girls..sure love them
I think poor Aivree was either getting sick or just really sensitive to the sun this day (she always has been), but these are the only pictures I could get with her eyes open and it's because she's in a tunnel..and even that was a struggle!

LOL..poor Aivree.  Still a cute picture ;)
I'm all about picnics once Spring hits and a picnic in the yard is even more doable.  Here they are with their lunches and umbrellas to create some shade.
Alivia all alone after the girls were done eating and ran to play.  Do you love how I jimmy-rigged the umbrella to shade her?  Good thing she can't move!
This is just kind of random and funny, but it shows you how creative my girls can get.  Let me just say that I can NEVER find my sash that goes to my robe.  It is always being used as anything but what it was made for.  Often times it is a leash as you see here with poor Alivia got stuck being the pet.
The girls probably love it when I get sick because it means that I can play games with them because all I want to do is lay down.  This day in particular, I was recovering from the stomach flu and didn't have much energy to do anything around the house like I was supposed to, so I played Go Fish with my girls...which is much more important anyway.
Go Fish and pretzels and silly girls...great combination
Rob brings home so many boxes from work and we have just collected a ton of them too from diapers and what not...so we decided to put them to good use and build a fort.  This is in the basement.  Perfect little place for the girls to have a hideout.

It's nice when I don't have to come up with something fun to do because it just presents itself to me.  My mother in law teaches fifth grade at my old elementary school and they do a lesson where they get caterpillars and watch them turn into butterflies and then let them go.  We had just let our own butterflies go a week earlier and the girls were excited to see Grandma's.  We had three, she had about 25.  The class is always so nice to the girls and treats them like royalty.
I actually think this butterfly didn't make it, but it was still cool to hold and look at!

I guess that being a kid is fun no matter what you're doing.  That's part of being a kid right?  Enjoying every minute of life with hardly any responsibility.  Being a kid is the best and I sure love the three I get to be "Mom" to.
