The yard in Springtime

I wanted to do a yard post because during springtime we are loving being out in the yard and this year was no different.  Towards the end of February, these little beauties started pushing through the dirt and came full bloom in March.  Love spring blooms.

I spent time outside doing some weeding and Rob and I cleaned out the flowerbeds a bit and put some Preen down.  Alivia was a tough one for this when she wasn't napping, because she was wanting to move around and explore (and eat grass and dirt) and I was wanting her to stay put (and not eat grass and dirt).  Here she is on a blanket with all kinds of fun and interesting toys to keep her entertained.
And about a minute later...she's off.  Eating grass most likely
Aivree of course loved to be outside and "help" and play.  Here she is lounging in her pink chair she got for her birthday.
We started out with a bit of a dandelion problem in our backyard and it was really frustrating.  Those things grow like...like..like the weeds they are I guess!  They're so annoying!  Once when Rob was out of town for work, I worked out in the yard for almost four hours making sure I pulled up every last dandelion in our front and back yard and you wanna know what he saw the next day when he got home?  About the same thing I saw before I started pulling dandelions.  New little lovelies poking up everywhere.  He probably thought I'd lied about my exhausting work.
The girls didn't share my same sentiment about the dandelions.  You see, they were flowers to them and they picked a bunch and put them in this little bowl and pretended that it was the flower from the movie Tangled.  It's all in the eye of the beholder I guess.
In April we were blessed with these beautiful blooms.  I love to see bright flowers in my flower beds.
Towards the end of April the weather was beautiful for a minute and we made dinner out in our fire pit and roasted marshmallows.  I'm really glad Rob decided he wanted a fire pit in our yard(s).  They've been something we've really enjoyed.  The girls just love it.  We love to camp, but haven't had the opportunity in recent years, so this helps us feel like we are camping a little bit.
In early May, Rob had a couple days off and we decided it'd be a good time to plant our garden.  Once again, I tried to keep Alivia as entertained as I could on the blanket and this time, she did pretty good.
But then she got sleepy and it was time for a nap. Such a cute buggy, but so much easier to help out when I'm not worrying about her.
The girls loved helping plant the garden too.  They're favorite was dropping the seeds in each little hole.
They like to help in whatever way they can

This year we planted corn, carrots, cucumbers, beans, peas, lettuce, green peppers and honeydew.  We had a pretty good harvest with our garden last year, so I'm excited to see how it goes this year.  It always makes me a little nervous putting that little seed in the ground.  It's miraculous to me how much you can get from a tiny seed if it's taken care of.  Listen to me, I'm starting to sound like I like gardening.  Who would have ever thought?
My cute girls.  Such good sisters
Oh how I love them.  They were practicing their picture taking skills here, didn't they do good?
Ani took this one.  Me and my sweet Aivree
Aivree took this one.  Me and Anisten being silly
On the other side of the yard, our strawberry patch and raspberries are growing nicely.  We should be seeing some fruit here within a month or so.
And these beauties decided to finally bloom for us in May.  So pretty

I just love springtime.  We've had quite a few good thunderstorms this Spring which have resulted in a few rainbows!  Rainbows make me happy I decided.  They are one of the wonders of this world and I just stand in awe looking at them.
