On June 8th, my baby girl had her First Birthday! So crazy to think that a year ago was the very first time we met this little princess. She has been such a blessing to our family and we sure love her.
I decided to go with a rainbow theme for her birthday. It was tough coming up with something, but there have been so many rainbows this year and they make me happy so I felt that it fit for Alivia's birthday. She didn't get a ton of presents because, lets face it..she's one year old and doesn't know the difference; and she already has every toy a one year old girl could ever want...even before she was born! So I didn't feel a lot of toys was really necessary. We did get her a swing though so she can swing with her sisters on the swingset. Here are her presents and her door sign.

Alivia loved playing with her balloons. In fact, she couldn't get rid of them even when she wanted to! haha We had a good laugh trying to find her in all those balloons.
Such a cute birthday girl
Our day wasn't too exciting. I took the girls to see a baptism (Blaise Boswell) while Rob stayed home with the napping birthday girl. After that we all went to my mom's so I could help frost the beautiful cake. I didn't contribute much good to it, but at least I can say I did something. Next we came home for Alivia's afternoon nap and when she woke up we went and got dinner at Dickey's BBQ at took it up to Fernwood to eat. The girls love going up in the "mountains" and so do Rob and I. It's beautiful up there and we thought it'd be fun to eat Alivia's birthday dinner somewhere different. She liked her chicken
She kept leaning over to the nearest straw to take a drink of whatever was inside (lemonade). I know it looks like she's not liking it but she was just mid-blink, she loved it.
After dinner we headed home to have a party. We waited for a few more people to arrive and then she got to open her presents
...with the help of her sisters and cousins of course!
Standing up so big!
Next was cake time! How cute is that cake? I love it
Here are the before pictures..nice and clean
And on to the mess...She dove right in! No hesitation whatsoever. she picked that thing up and chowed down. In fact, she went through TWO cupcakes. This girl can pack it down and she loves cake.
She wouldn't even look at me, she was so into her food ;)
The next day we hooked up her swing and she couldn't have been happier. Look at that smile
Swinging Sisters
Happy Birthday Little Livi!
I took Alivia to her one year appointment and here are her stats:
Weight: 17 lbs 7.5 oz - 3%
Height: 28 1/4 inches - 20%
Head: 17 1/2 inches - 28%
I think that 3% is as low as Anisten ever got. She's a petite little thing!
She was a good little girl at the doctor. Very happy and easy going as usual. Here she is trying to escape though...she knew that the ouch part was coming. :)
And here she is after the shots. She cried for just a minute and was happy when she got her sucker. So sad when they get those though.
Some fun Alivia facts:
- Her teeth are growing like crazy. She had three on top and three on bottom when she turned one and then in the next month got two more and her molars started pushing through! Her molars have been tough. She's always so happy and can play on her own, but when she's been teething with those molars, she's much more clingy and irritable. Poor thing.
- She is such a loving little creature. She loves to give loves and hugs and kisses. She gives them so freely to pretty much anyone who will ask. I love it and I can't get enough of her loves.
- She's already mastered the stairs! I spent some time one day teaching her to go down the stairs backwards and she picked it right up and goes up and down on her own. She's only fallen once and it wasn't all the way down the stairs..just a few of them. She's still working on it, but we don't have to worry about a gate anymore which is nice.
- Alivia loves the dishwasher. Every time it's open, she crawls over and climbs in and on it and pulls everything out and puts it back in. It's been a little scary because she's pulled out knives before, but luckily she didn't stab herself.
-She's probably not certain about what her name is. We call her Livi most of the time (especially Rob). I find I call her Livi Jane a lot, but I try to call her Alivia too so she learns that. She's probably kind of confused.
- Alivia is always laughing. If she hears us laughing then she laughs and she will sometimes just randomly laugh at who knows what. She likes to be silly so she can make us laugh and then she laughs really hard too. She's got this really cute deep laugh that comes from her belly. Life is just funny to her.
- Alivia is the messiest eater ever. I wish they made full body bibs.
- Alivia can sign "more" say stinky, hi, mama, dada, thank you, kucky, woof woof and when you say "where's your tongue?" she sticks her tongue out. She also likes to play peekaboo in any form and claps her hands when you say Yaaay! She knows what "take a bite" means and bye-bye and can wave hi and bye. When we say something is "hot" she starts blowing.
- She loves to giggle and play with her sisters, but gets nervous when Aivree gets too close. I think that Aivree forgets that she's still pretty little and can be too rough with her and it's happened one too many times for Alivia to forget.
-That girls' got some lungs! She can scream so incredibly high pitched that my ears ring. Since she's not talking that is mostly her form of communication...screamese. So annoying, especially during dinner time. She also lets out a little screech when she's frustrated or wants something. Definitely not my preferred form of communication. We're working on that.
- We've found that Alivia loves the water and loves to swim. She is a little fish.
- She likes to listen to music and dance although she's a pretty wild dancer. Lately she's been flailing her arms around and twisting her body like a human blender. It's a little crazy, but really cute.
- She's started taking steps and isn't too far off from being a walker.
-When she gets mad she hits her head. She'll hit it with her hand or on the floor or on the wall. It's so weird! It drives me crazy because she of course starts crying because it hurts and she's got all kinds of bruises on her head. Why does she do that? I wish she'd stop.
-This girl has been a light in our family since day one and I am so very thankful for her. She gives me joy and perspective and our family wouldn't be complete without her. We love you so much Alivia Jane!
