Happy Thanksgiving! It is no secret that I am no interior decorator..one look at my house makes that obvious. Don't get me wrong, I have a beautiful home, but none of it is to my credit. It was beautiful before I moved into it. Having said that, I don't really plan on getting into decorating my house up anytime soon because #1. I don't have the money for it, #2. I don't have the creative mind for it, #3. the unnecessary stress that comes with having nice things and children in the same room and #4. I have my own destroyer/decorators who do it for me! Every holiday that comes up my girls get so excited to color new pictures to hang on the walls. And I just love it too. We have fun making crafts and coloring pictures and then displaying them for all to see. Someday I may get to where I want to fill my walls with beautiful, expensive pictures and things, but for now, I love to see the talented handiwork of my beautiful daughters.
Here are a few of their Thanksgiving masterpieces (and don't worry, there is more where that came from..and will come)
This year Thanksgiving was held at the Stevenson's house. Here is the beautiful set up
Don't you love that place setting? So pretty
And all sorts of fun happens at the kids table
How cute are those Crayon Turkeys? Each grandchild was so excited to go home with a new box of crayons and their turkey
More decor..(see my mom has the interior decorator bug, I just don't)
Some of the food being brought out
Sad to say, that is the majority of the pictures I took. I don't know why, I just wasn't really camera happy after the first 10 minutes...and I think my camera may have died. Anyway, we had an absolutely delicious Thanksgiving meal and then we were all able to make a leftover casserole to take home. That's one of my favorite parts about it, I get a meal to take home too! We all hung out and watched football and browsed Black Friday ads. Later we of course ate some pie...
Regarding those pies, my mom did a fun thing this year. The day before Thanksgiving she invited all of us girls over for a "learn to make pie" night. She figured that if we never learn, she'll be the one making them each year and it's something we might as well learn how to do, right? I was most definitely on board because Rob is such a huge fan of pies, so I felt a little ashamed that I hadn't made him one yet. We had so much fun and realized that making pies is actually super easy! I think we made a total of 10 pies. We all went home with a Chicken Pot Pie for our freezer and my mom had a few in hers as well. We also got all the pies made for the next day and a few Razzleberry's for the freezer too. It was awesome. So much fun and it has now been added into my dinner rotation.
Here is one of the pies we made. Kina and I did the crust on this one. I actually braided it. It was kind of an experiment, something I'd seen and wanted to try. It wasn't too tough, just time consuming (which is why it's only on half of the pie). Pretty neat though eh? Rob was quite impressed with my abilities (too bad that's more a hair thing and not baking)
The spread of pies...
I opted out on Black Friday this year. There wasn't much that I was looking for or needing in the sales. I did make several purchases online though and feel that I got what I wanted that way at the same or better prices than going to the store. Ah, the joys of shopping in your jammies. Definitely something to be grateful for. That and so much more. It was a very blessed Thanksgiving this year.
