Announcing:
Alivia Jane Rollins, born June 8, 2012 at 10:42 am weighing 7 lbs 1 oz
Isn't she pretty? And she looks so much like her sisters (especially Aivree)
I know I'm slow at getting this posted, but I kind of have an excuse right? I mean, I have a new baby! :) It has been so much fun and I can't believe how quickly time has passed already. For some reason I was really anxious about this delivery, but it turned out to be my easiest one yet! Thankfully. Rob and I went to the hospital at about 8 pm on June 7 after putting the girls to bed and getting a blessing from Rob and my dad. We were admitted and at about 9 pm they put the Cervidel in (I was dilated to about a 1 1/2). Here is one last picture of me in all my pregnant glory. So crazy to think that you are about to have a baby.
After the Cervidel was in Rob stuck around for a little bit longer, but ended up leaving around 10 pm to relieve my mom. I was cramping/contracting a bit, but it wasn't too bad yet. I tried to get some sleep knowing that the next day would be exhausting and life changing. My head cold was no help at all because I had a stuffy nose and kept waking up because I couldn't breathe, and of course the contractions. At about 3 am the contractions started to get much more painful. I guess they were increasing all night long, but it wasn't until then that I really noticed the pain. They were getting much closer too. I was also feeling some discharge when I was contracting and realized that it was possibly because my water broke. At about 4 am I called the nurse in and let her know my pain was intense and that I was pretty sure my water had broke. She checked and reassured me that, yes it defnitely had broke. That's never happened to me before! I've always had an epidural in me and had to have someone break my water, but this time it happened on it's own (kind of). What a crazy feeling! The nurse then took my Cervidel out (probably the most painful thing of all!!), checked me (I was at a 3) and called for the anesthesiologist to put my epidural in. It was a little scary for me because Rob has always been there for the epidural part, but since it was 4:30 in the morning and I had no idea how long it would take since I was still only at a 3, I didn't want him to have to rush in. I text him and let him know what was going on. The epidural doesn't usually work for me and I almost passed out with Aivree, so I let them know my concerns. The insertion went well and then I laid on my side a little bit and kept pushing the button until I was all numb and amazingly enough it worked! Anytime I thought I was feeling something, I'd push the buttton and it would go away. It was wonderful! They started me on Pitocin around 6 am just to keep things going in the right direction and Rob came at 7:30. I was at about a 6 when he got there and I was sleeping! During labor!? I've never had a labor like that and I was very grateful. It was so nice to be able to get some rest right before delivering. Thank you epidural. :) At about 10 the nurse said I was almost a 9 and that I'd be delivering within the hour most likely. I started feeling a little uncomfortable at that point, but not pain really. Mostly just pressure.
Here I am feeling wonderful considering I was in labor
Rob hanging out with me watching some TV while we waited
My mom brought Ani and Aivree and they hung out in the hallway singing songs (I distinctly remember Itsy Bitsy Spider) waiting for their new baby sister to come...lots of waiting going on, but not nearly as long as with these two!
Then Dr. Johnson came at around 10:30 and we started with the pushing. The only problem we encountered was that she was transverse. Which means she was turned, so instead of coming out face down she was facing the side. I pushed the first couple of times and she'd come down, but then would go right back up since she wasn't turned the right way. They had to get a little vacuum that had a suction cup thing on the end so that the next time I pushed he was able to get a good grip on her head and turn it the right way. After that, she came out easy! It only took about 10 minutes of pushing and there she was!
She cried maybe five seconds and then was quiet after that...for almost a day I swear! She just didn't cry. She was breathing fine and everything, but she just didn't feel the need to cry I guess. It's okay because Rob cried for her, which of course made me cry. She was just looking around at everything taking it all in.
Meeting my Alivia...love at first sight
Then the fam came in and she looked at everyone with her big eyes and then we passed her around for a minute so everyone could see how pretty she was. It was love at first sight for the girls too.

Getting her first bath
It was seriously such an amazing day.
I was so happy that I was able to have her in the morning rather than labor all the day long. My recovery was really good too. The worst thing was that I was pretty sure I pulled a stomach muscle because I could hardly move at all after the delivery because it hurt so bad. I also got "the shakes" a lot. After my water broke and after the delivery I'd start shaking and couldn't stop. They said it could be from the drugs or from the adrenaline. I was able to calm down after awhile though. Alivia didn't pass her hearing test at the hospital and it worried me a little bit, but she passed 100% at a follow up appointment.
Mom and Livvy getting some much needed rest
We had some visitors throughout the day which was nice. We are so lucky to have such good support from family and friends.
Aunt Sommer brought a gift for the girls too, they loved it
Alivia and I stayed one more night and then we were able to come home the next afternoon. We had a good first night together, well, as good as it could be in a hospital.
This was in the morning...she figured out how to wiggle her arms out of her wrap.
Sweet baby Alivia wide awake..she likes the binky
The girls came to see Alivia the next day (Rob fixed their hair, he did good huh?) and then they went with my parents for a few hours while Rob stayed with me to get everything ready to go.
