On Wednesday November 27th (the day before Thanksgiving), it was Free Zoo day at the zoo! We hadn't been to the zoo in so long and we love going on Free Zoo day because it's not incredibly hot and well...its free!! Anisten was also out of school because of Thanksgiving break and the day started out beautifully and looked like good weather so we decided to go for it. My mom came with us and we headed down around 11 am or so.
First we bundled up with hats, coats and gloves and found the elephants right off
Next we went and said hello to the gorilla. He was sitting right next to the window so we got a really good look at him...
but then we must've scared him away
Here's cute Anisten and Aivree walking along looking for some animals
Here's a pretty ferocious one! My silly girls :)
The tiger was actually kind of scary, honestly. It was pacing back and forth by the fence making this really loud scary growling noise. It freaked Alivia out and she did not want to go near it. Crazy stuff.
There were some new additions to the zoo since we were there last...this being one of them. A lighthouse tunnel slide. It wasn't easy prying my girls away from all that fun to look at some boring animals.
My crazy animals
We of course had to see the giraffes. They're one of our favorites
Look at these little lizards looking right at us!
Big turtles (or tortoises?)
Scary crocodile
ugh
The girls were spoiled by their grandma because Mom said "No way" to the Merry Go Round and she said "Okay," (making our free zoo day not so free) ;) They loved it though and it was fun
We also had fun looking at the active bears. They were playing in the water and walking around together.
We also loved the new sea lion exhibit. It made me really want to go to Sea World.
Last but not least, my little Eagle's Nest. We couldn't get a good picture because the sun was in the girl's eyes, but it was worth a try.
I'm so glad we decided to go because it was so much fun. We went to Wendy's after for lunch and then Alivia fell asleep on the way home and took a good long nap when we got home. Her first trip to the zoo wore her out!
