When my girls get an idea in their head, there's no stopping them. They decided they wanted kites and since we didn't have any, they would be making them. I was working out and came upstairs to see Rob helping the girls with these lovely things.
That's right; wrapping paper (cut into a star and heart), straws and very thick string. I was glad they were being inventive and creative, but didn't want them to get their hopes up either.
I made Rob get in the picture to help take ownership in these creations. You can see the confidence on his face.
Kite Flying Part 1
Well, thanks to a blustery day, they weren't a total disappointment. Anything will fly in a strong wind right? ;)
And with the help of a little running...
Ani's actually flew a little better than Aivree's. I think that Aivree's was just too long and it just kept breaking. We promised them we'd go buy them kites that day.
Alivia's first grass experience. Not too bad
Kite Flying Part 2
We did buy them new kites that day, but didn't have time to fly them. The next day was Sunday (Mar 10) and there was very little wind. Their kites flew very well though when the girls ran with them.
Sometimes you gotta make your own wind
Kite Flying Part 3
A couple days after that I noticed a lovely breeze after taking Ani to school. I told Aivree to get her kite and we tried it out. Perfect!
Look at it go!
It got stuck in our tree shortly after this picture (Aivree started walking around while holding it). Luckily I was able to get it out. It did fly really well though and these are the kites that could fly for hours on a light breeze. We were glad to finally have some kite success.
Alivia in the grass again
She kept trying to eat it. This long piece was in her mouth and she didn't want to give it up, let me tell ya. Silly girl.
