Whats been going on

I haven't blogged for awhile I know.  Usually by the end of the day, the only thing I feel like doing is lying down and giving my body a rest.  Its funny how when the third trimester hits, the lack of energy I felt during the first trimester comes back.  It really does make me miss the second trimester. :)  Not really though, because I'm happy to be moving along in the pregnancy obviously.  As for us, things haven't been too exciting around here.  Rob's work schedule has been horrendous and it's been a struggle to be positive through that.  He'd come home after a long day and not be happy and then none of us would be happy.   As much of a blessing as this new job has been, it's also taking its toll on our lives.  We're hoping things improve and they should.  He's been working up in Logan for the past few months because a guy there broke his leg, but once he gets back, Rob should be able to get out of Logan and out of the long long hours and days.  It sure does make us appreciate those days off he gets!
May has been a surprisingly warm month this year.  It's crazy how last year it didn't seem like we got a spring at all and this year we've had an extremely warm almost Summer Spring.  We have loved going out in our yard and enjoying the sun.  Our lawn is looking a lot better already and the grass is starting to outgrow the weeds now.  The girls just love their little swingset and play on it all the time.  One exciting thing about that is that Aivree has learned how to pump all by herself!!  She just loves to swing and I guess she got tired of waiting for someone to push her every time, so she figured it out.
Here they are both swinging high.  Anisten is now brave enough to jump out of her swing while she's swinging so high.  I love watching them out there talking to each other and swinging.  I love how they're such good friends.
The girls have already swam in their pool a few times this year and they have loved it.  They also love running through the sprinklers.  One day it was pretty warm and the girls were wanting to swim, but it was too late to get the pool out.  Well, they got a lovely idea when the sprinklers came on.  I think at first they were trying to dodge them, but it didn't last long and they were soaked (who needs swimsuits anyway).

Such cute little wet girls.  They had so much fun

Here is my first rose of the season!  Isn't it pretty?
The honeysuckle on the fence that we share with our neighbors is also in bloom already.  It bloomed early this year with the warm weather.  It smells amazing.  I love it.
Our peach tree is doing well too.  It has tons of these cute little peaches growing.  Too bad we're going to have to cut a bunch of them off because there is no way the little branches are going to hold up all those peaches.  We could get a few though.  I wish our cherry tree was doing better, but it unfortunately did not make it.  It looked like it was coming to life, but then it just gave up and died.  There is a little shoot coming off the trunk of the tree that looks really healthy, so we're trying to decide if we want to let that grow or not.  It would take forever to get very big.
I blogged previously about how we planted a garden and I was super nervous about it growing.  Well, I guess I had good reason to doubt.  NOTHING came up.  Our first attempt at a garden was a Fail.  We'd go out and check it and...nothin.  There actually is one row that survived and that is our mixed greens.  For some reason they made it although nothing else did.
Here is our row of Mixed Greens
So, we're not exactly sure why nothing grew.  But we decided to try again.  This time Rob bought some cow manure at the store (gross I know) and raked it all in with some grass clippings.  Ya know, we figured it couldn't hurt to give our soil a boost.  We also built up rows this time so we could see exactly where everything was planted, we made sure to not plant them too deeply and we made sure they were watered plenty.  This time...it worked!  After just the first week, we could already see little green sprouts working their way up through the dirt.  Now almost everything has sprouted and hopefully we can keep them alive to harvest some food this year.  We're still not totally sure what we did wrong the first time, but we are happy to know that we are complete failures at the gardening thing.
First sprouts of Broccoli...
 Cucumbers and
Spinach.  It's so exciting to see these lovely little green plants pushing their way through the ground.  And all from a little seed.  We also have green beans, peas, carrots, corn, peppers, watermelon and honeydew sprouting.

Our Garden (second attempt)
It's funny, the second time around we had both girls out there helping us and getting excited about it. The first time, it was almost too hot and they weren't as interested. It's nice that we got a second chance and that they were able to enjoy it more and get involved.  They were so excited when the sprouts started coming up knowing that they had a part in planting them.

The other thing that we've liked watching grow and have already been able to enjoy the fruits of is our Strawberry Patch!  It was so fun to see these teeny tiny strawberries grow and get pink and then red.  I go out every day and pick quite a few of them.  The only problem is that we have to fight the bird's.  For some reason they think we planted the strawberries for them and they like to eat them.
You can see there are still plenty more on their way
I picked all of these one morning.  Aren't they beautiful?  They're really yummy too.

One day while we were out in our yard picking weeds or looking at our garden, I found a ladybug in the grass.  Aivree was so excited and wanted to hold it.  I thought these pictures were too cute.

As far as other things go...Aivree had a little relapse in her potty training.  It was really upsetting because about a month and a half into it and doing so well, she just started having accidents.  Everyday.  It was so weird and frustrating.  We just couldn't understand it.  We tried charts again and taking things away.  I even put her back in a diaper one day for about an hour and then she wore pull ups for about five days straight.  Then after we put her big girl panties back on, she did better.  She still had accidents, but they went from everyday to every other day and now it's been over a week since her last accident.  I know that every once in a while there'll be a time when she won't quite make it to the potty and those accidents are understandable.  It was just upsetting when she was doing it everyday for no apparent reason and she didn't even seem to care.  I'm glad we're past that now and I'm hoping we don't experience another relapse..especially once this baby gets here.
As far as the pregnancy goes, things are moving right along.  Different levels of discomfort at different stages.  I am feeling pretty enormous, but fortunately haven't gained too much so far (for me at least).  No more kidney stones have reared their ugly heads, at least nothing too extreme.  There have been a couple times that I thought I felt something moving, but it's been manageable.  One complication that I haven't mentioned before is my eyes.  I don't know if you've noticed, but I have been wearing my glasses 99% of the time since about the second month of this pregnancy.  I thought I had pink eye initially and got an antibiotic and everything, but when I put my contacts back in a few weeks later, my eyes got very irritated again.  Turns out this pregnancy has effected my eyes and made it so that I can't wear my contacts.  My eyes get dried out so bad and irritated.  In the beginning my eye would turn so red and hurt so bad.  I talked to my doctor about it and an eye doctor and they both acted like it was a common side effect of pregnancy.  So, I'm just hoping that it goes away with the pregnancy so I can get back to wearing my contacts again. It's been weird wearing glasses all the time.  I've actually got used to it, but I still prefer contacts as long as they aren't hurting me.  The only other thing is the borderline diabetes and I'm going to be happy to be off my diet.  I've really missed baking and for some reason this time around I decided to try baking some "low carb treats" which was a mistake.  They pretty much all turned out not good.  It's just not the same without the sugar. ;)  The time is coming close for this little one to arrive and I can't believe it's finally here.  It seems so surreal.
