Anisten's missed recital

Anisten's been taking dance since June from The Movement Dance Center and she is LOVING it.  She looks forward to it every week.  The past couple months they've been learning their dance for the Christmas recital which was on December 21st.  I was so excited to get to watch her in the recital.  I'd watched her in class a few times and the dance was soo cute and she knew it so well.  She got her cute little costume and had her dress rehearsal and we were really looking forward to her recital and told family to plan on coming.

Well, at about 4:00 am on December 21st, Anisten came into my room with a stuffy nose and just acting not well.  She said she was dizzy and just not feeling well.  I felt her head and then took her temperature.  She was up to 103.5. :(  Poor thing.  She got a little bit more sleep, after I gave her some medicine, but not much.  Her fever seemed to go away, or at least drop for awhile, but I noticed mid morning that it had spiked back up.  She was very lethargic too and acting like she just didn't feel well.  Finally around noon I talked to my mom and had to face the hard truth that she would most likely NOT be dancing in her recital that night.  I almost cried.  I don't know why, but it made me so sad to think she would miss her first recital.  Her condition didn't improve much throughout the day and I explained to her that she would be missing her recital that night.  Funny thing is, she took it a lot better than I did.  Probably because she really didn't feel well enough to dance.  We even asked her right before we'd have to leave to get to the recital on time, if she wanted to go, and she said "No, I can't dance right now."  I don't think I've ever heard her say those words.  Good news is, the recital went on as planned and everything went well and over the next couple of days Anisten got better and her fever went away.  Which was really good since Christmas was coming and we for sure didn't want her sick for that.

Here is a video of Ani at one of her practices.  Her whole class isn't there because this was after most of them had left, but you can see that she knows it really well.  This was a good month before the recital too, so she knew it even better by then.
My little dancer.  Well, it's a good thing there's more recitals to come...I have a feeling there will be many more. :)
