January 10th was Anisten's Sixth birthday! I know I say it every year, but I can't believe how old she's getting...and how old that makes me. ;) Ani wanted a Barbie birthday this year, so that's what she got.
Presents and pinata. I wasn't planning on doing another pinata, but she brought it up that she wanted one, so it looks like it will become a tradition around here.
Anisten hates balloons, so I put up these streamers instead. Needless to say, they were a huge hit and the girls played with them all day like they were a new toy.
Ani's "door" present. A cute new Barbie outfit
The Birthday girl eating her breakfast of Cinnamon Life. I think I have a picture of her on her 2nd birthday eating Life. That's one thing that hasn't changed, Ani loves Life :)
Here's her beautiful Barbie cake that grandma made
Anisten had to go to school on her birthday, so we didn't do anything too exciting that morning. She did, unfortunately, have to go to time out on her birthday. :( Sometimes it's tough being the birthday girl. I took her to school and we went to the BoxTops store and she got to pick out some fun things. She was also excited because she got to take a treat to class for snack time.
After school we started getting ready for dinner and her party. We thought she'd want to go out to eat somewhere, but she requested that I make "casserole with noodles" which is Lasagna. So that's what we had for dinner.
Ani had invited her cousins over to help break her pinata, as well as grandparents and a few friends from school. Unfortunately, shortly after getting home from school, the weather turned scary and a HUGE blizzard came blowing in. It was seriously crazy, windy snow. So her cousins weren't able to make it because it was a bad night for some of them and a scary night to be driving in. Her grandparents and friends made it though.
Some pictures of the storm..they really don't do it justice
Rob was out shoveling for a couple hours before anyone arrived. It just kept coming down
Once everyone arrived who was able to come, we headed downstairs for the pinata. Here's Ani taking a whack at it.
Her friend Makayla went next and although she was small, she was a hitter! She got a few pieces of candy out...
Aivree went next and a few more pieces fell out.
Owen went last and broke it good enough for all the candy to come out
This pinata made some fun "hats" Rob put on one of the sides of it as a Princess hat and then my dad put the center of the pinata on for a "robot" hat. The kids loved it and I thought it was funny too
Next we went upstairs for presents. Here's Ani and her Easy Bake Oven! Just what she asked for
Cake time!
Happy Birthday Anisten!
Anisten at age six:
-Such a smart girl. Too smart in fact. They can't find books hard enough for her in Kindergarten, so they've had to borrow from the first and second grade classes. She is going to be tested over the next few months to see if she qualifies to go into a Primary Advanced Learner (PAL) program. There a positives and negatives to the program so it's something we'll have to think about.
-Ani favorite food is "casseroles." I never would've thought. For years she would turn her nose up at anything that looked remotely like casserole and now they're her favorite. I guess I put enough casseroles in front of her and made her try them that she finally realized they were good. Persistence pays off people, I tell you what.
-One of Anisten's favorite things to do is draw/color. She loves learning how to draw things and one of her favorite things to color is a rainbow.
-Anisten is in tumbling and dance and loving both. She is always dancing or moving in some way and is getting quite flexible. In fact, she got a prize in ballet because she was flat in all three splits! She's always doing heel stretches with her leg up to her ear. She's also doing very well in tumbling and has the most beautiful cartwheel (she's come so far from just six months ago when she could barely get her hands in the right place for a cartwheel)!
-She is such a great big sister and her sisters just adore her. Aivree always gets sad when Ani has to go to school or dance because her playmate is leaving and she's left with boring old mom. Alivia also loves when Ani is around because she always plays with her and makes her laugh so easily.
-Ani has now lost two of her teeth on the bottom and since she had a tooth growing in behind a tooth that hadn't come out yet, she's got some pretty crazy teeth going on. Now that the tooth has come out, we are hoping the other one will move up into it's place. Either way, we're pretty positive braces are in her future.
-Anisten is very sensitive. This has been both good and bad. She is sensitive in that she can get her feelings hurt easily or be embarrassed easily. She's also sensitive to things that don't feel right. If she sees something that is scary or bad, it really affects her and takes a lot of comforting to get her feeling better.
-Anisten is learning to be responsible. She's getting much better at getting a task completed that I ask her to do, when I ask her to do it. I also know that I can trust her with most things.
-Ani is still such a runt. She is just so skinny and I'm not sure why. She eats really well and I know she loves her sweets (just like her momma). She has the tall, lean dancer's body that I've always wanted. ;)
-Ani has such a sweet spirit and I am so glad to have her in our family. She really makes me so happy and she's so fun to talk to and laugh with. I hope she can always feel comfortable talking to me. She is such an important piece to our family and we just love her so very much.
