Well, I actually didn't get many pictures of our New Years celebrations, but I wanted to write about them anyway. Each New Year's Eve the Rollins do a big party until midnight, but for some reason this year not many of us were going to be able to stay until midnight so we decided to have our own "midnight" celebration at about 8:00 pm. It worked perfect because then all the kids would be awake still and get to enjoy the celebrations with us and then we wouldn't have to deal with incredibly tired children the next day (or adults for that matter). We ate a yummy dinner of all kinds of great foods and then played some games. I did get a video of when we went outside for a little bit to light some lanterns. Anisten absolutely loved this because it's what they do in the movie Tangled and that of course, is a favorite movie at our house. Scott brought about eight or so lanterns. It was pretty fun to watch them float up, despite how cold it was.
We celebrated New Years at around 8 pm (Anisten wasn't so fond of the loud poppers) and then we headed home and had the girls in bed around 9. Rob and I then watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes and stayed awake just long enough to see the ball drop. It was a great New Years.
As for our news...there's been a lot of changes going on lately for us. The biggest change (for now) is that Rob got a new job! It's something he's been looking into for awhile. He knew that he didn't want to (or physically wouldn't be able to) frame forever and it seemed he'd gone as far as he could go in the company, so he started asking around a little bit for other prospects. Our brother in law works for and pointed him in the direction of Frito Lay. It took awhile but Rob was finally able to get an interview and was offered a position of Sales Delivery Rep doing a vacation route. He started December 19th and has been in training since then. We've already had more chips in our house then ever before! ;) This job is a huge change for our family and especially him, but it's been good and we think it will be good for our future as well. He will be making more money than he was and has the potential to move up. We also get great benefits and his favorite part is that he doesn't have to work outside in the winter anymore. His hours are kinda crazy right now and he works 40+ hours a week, but those also have the potential to improve. You gotta start somewhere and we feel fortunate that he was able to find a job with a big corporation like this at all, especially the way the economy is nowadays.
A change that came because of Rob's new job is a vehicle change. He has to drive to Salt Lake everyday, so we realized that his truck was probably not the best commuter vehicle. He did a lot of car shopping for a few weeks. He put his truck on KSL and the person who ended up buying it, called two minutes after it was up. It was crazy. He was pretty sad to see that truck go. He found a car that he fell in love with at a dealership a couple days later and although we had to get a small loan for it, our gas bill has been cut in half (at least). It's kind of funny how one change kind of snowballs into lots of changes.
Rob's truck...bye :(
Rob's new (to us) car
Not only did Rob get a new job, but we have other news as well....I'm PREGNANT! I am actually 18 weeks along now and am due June 15th. It took us a little longer to get pregnant this time than with my other pregnancies. I was sick during the first trimester, but not horribly sick like so many other pregnant women get. I feel nauseated all day long, but I never throw up, so that's a blessing. I've been super tired this pregnancy too, but I remember being really tired with the others as well. I can't say I have any "feeling" yet about whether this will be a girl or boy. This pregnancy hasn't seemed much different than my others (at least not that I can remember) so that could mean its another girl I guess. We'd be okay with that. We've done girls and we love them. Rob of course would love to get his boy though and I can't say that I wouldn't love to have a boy too. Either way we will obviously be very happy to have a healthy baby to bring into our family. We should be finding out what it is next week sometime. We had to wait a little while for Rob's new insurance to kick in. Speaking of kicking, I have been feeling this little baby moving inside me the past couple weeks and it just makes me smile every time. I love that feeling. It's definitely something you don't get used to. I also am not used to how quickly I've grown with this one. I feel so big already...like I should be much farther along than 4 1/2 months. I guess that's how it goes with a third pregnancy. The girls are super excited about having a new sibling. They just love babies and I'm sure this baby will be loved and coddled like crazy by it's big sisters. It feels like so long since we've had a baby in the house. Pretty exciting!
This is the day we found out we were pregnant back in October. Anisten had no idea what we taking a picture of. :)
And now at 18 1/2 weeks you have this (I know, huge difference)
So there you have it...that's our big news. It's been pretty life changing lately, but all good changes. We're looking forward to a great year in 2012.
