ONE YEAR older and wiser too

My baby is 1! I can't believe it. This year has flown by and I can't believe my baby is no longer a "baby." Aivree turned One year old on March 18. I took her to her doctor's appointment the next day and she only weighed 17 lbs and is in the 4 percentile! I have another petite girl on my hands. Her height is 46 percentile, so she's tall and skinny just like Ani.
We had family come over and she opened her presents and then we had cake and ice cream. It was pretty funny opening presents. She wasn't too interested until they were out (of course) which worked out because Anisten pretty much opened all of her presents for her. She did get really excited about the tiny pieces of paper she was able to rip off the presents. She got a lot of fun toys and was a very lucky little girl.

So excited about her new stool

Opening presents (Ani) and examining toys

Here is a video of her opening a present and you can see how happy she is about the paper.

She was so excited when we sang Happy Birthday to her. She loved it. Ani helped her blow out the candle and then we gave her a big piece of cake. At first she just kind of picked at it because I think she was unsure of h0w to eat it. She usually has her food in little pieces, so this was something new. She loved it though and still managed to make a big mess.
hmm...what is this?

Okay..I kinda like that

YUM! (look at that tongue)

Good stuff! I'm a happy girl :)

What? Is there something on my face? Or up my nose?

Here's a video of her eating the cake

Some fun Aivree facts:

She didn't get her first tooth until she was 11 months! At 1 year she now has 2 teeth, but it is quite an ordeal for each tooth to come in.

Aivree is our little comedian. She just loves to be silly and make us laugh.

One of her favorite games to play is Peekaboo. She'll hide behind anything and stick her head out and just give you this Peekaboo look. Sometimes she'll say something that sounds a little like Peekaboo. A lot of the time I'll be holding her and she'll bend over and look at me to play Peekaboo. So cute.

She is one of the fastest crawlers I've seen, but still no walking yet. She started army crawling at 8 months and popped up on all fours during her ninth month.

Her favorite word is uh-oh and she says it all the time. She also says mama, dada, wow, whoa, spaghettio (after uh-oh), thank you, hi, no and she says woof woof for the dog sound. Her words aren't always really clear of course, buy we can always tell what she's saying.

She is a short napper and always has been. I have tried everything to change this about her, but it's no use. She usually takes a 45 minute nap and 1 1/2 hour nap a day. Anything more is a miracle, less is normal. She sleeps great at night though (12 hours), so I'm really not complaining.

Aivree is very attached to her mama and rarely is happy being held by other people when Mom is around.

Aivree is a social bug and loves being around people more than anything. I remember Anisten would sit and watch Baby Einstein videos, but Aivree will only watch for a little bit and then she's off to find some company.

She is already very clear about what she does and doesn't like/want. She is an award winning tantrum thrower.

Ever since she was born we have always called Aivree Buggy or Buggyboo. Anisten especially uses these nicknames. It's pretty cute.

This girl will eat ANYthing. I love it. She eats whatever Ani doesn't and more. Eating is also one of her favorite things to do.

I nursed Aivree for her entire first year and weaned her onto bottles slowly during that time. 1 bottle at 5 months, 2 bottles at 9 months, 3 bottles at 11 months and on to no bottles at 1 year, just cow's milk. She's trying to get used to the milk (I think she thinks it's too cold), but I think she'll get the hang of it soon enough.

She loves talking on the telephone and uses anything as a telephone (blankets, shoes, tv remotes, etc) She picks it up and holds it to her ear and says Hi and then starts talking away. I wonder where she picked that up?

For some reason Aivree loves teeth. She will always touch my teeth or Robs teeth when we're holding her. Maybe she likes ours because she doesn't have any.

She has this horribly high pitched scream she does when she's not happy for whatever reason. She does this in the store sometimes and it is so embarassing. It seriously hurts my ears and I have no idea why she's doing it (probably because she wants to get down and crawl around instead of being stuck in a grocery cart).

She gives the cutest little kisses when you ask her to. She can also blow kisses and she says "mwah!"

She's very cuddly and loves to be held.

She learned how to take the lids off markers a couple months ago. Ugh...need I say more?

She still puts everything in her mouth that she finds anywhere. If it's on the floor, she thinks it's for her.

Aivree loves her big sister and will watch her and do whatever she does. We've warned Anisten of this, so hopefully she doesn't teach her anything too awful (haha, too late!) Aivree always wants to play and do anything with Ani. It's hard for Ani sometimes, but I think once Aivree gets a little older it'll be a good thing.

Aivree is such a sweetheart and we are so happy she is a part of our family. She brings us joy everyday and we can't imagine our family without her. We love you Buggyboo!
