All things Aivree

I haven't posted much of Aivree the past two months, mostly because she was taking up all my time. With all the feeding, and getting to sleep, and rocking, and feeding; I didn't have much time to post. But, I did get some pictures and so now I want to take the time to do a post devoted to my sweet little Aivree.

Her first couple of weeks were relatively uneventful. She slept a lot which was great. She got lots of hugs and kisses from her parents and gradually more from her sister. She filled her diaper A LOT. I can't believe how many diapers newborns go through! I had forgotten that. She also was the queen of going to the bathroom as you were changing her diaper (I got pooped on 4 times) or shortly after a diaper change, so we went through a couple diapers each diaper change. Gotta love it.

At about 3 weeks she began to get fussy. I'm still not totally sure why. Maybe it was some colic, or acid reflux or just gas, but it lasted a couple weeks. She would just scream and cry and was pretty much inconsolable. We got through it though. She started to be awake a lot more and we noticed she had some big eyes..just like her mommy.

We got our first smile at six weeks, but came much more easily a week or so later. Now she is all smiles and I can't get enough of that dimpled face.

She will take a binkie on occasion, but it's not something she's attached to by far. In fact, sometimes it makes her more mad when we try to give it to her. So unlike her sister, who loved the binkie from day one.

She has yet to sleep through the night. >sigh< (Also unlike her sister who slept through the night at about 5 weeks). I didn't have to do a thing to "train" Anisten to sleep when she was a newborn, but apparently I'm supposed to be doing something with Aivree that I'm not. I keep thinking tonight is the night when she will miraculously sleep until at least 4 in the morning, but then I hear her crying and it's only 2 am again. I've tried to let her cry it out for a bit several times, but it doesn't usually work. I've read books and tried several things and we're just not making much progress. If any of you have some advice, I am willing to try anything at this point. It definitely can't get worse. I don't function well on little sleep, so you can imagine how our house has been the past 2 months.

She tends to get smothered by her sister a lot. For a while there Anisten just loved her eyes and always wanted to touch them. Ani always looks at her and says "teeny eyes" or "teeny toes" or "teeny hands." She just loves her "teeny" little sister. She loves to get about a 1/2 inch away from her face and just talk to her. We always have to tell her that she's too close. They "played" together for the first time the other day and had to get a video of it. Too cute. I think Anisten will enjoy her even more the older she gets. And even though Anisten is probably more annoying than anything, I know that Aivree loves her big sister.

Aivree is such a blessing and the perfect little addition to our family. It's so much fun to make her smile and see a little of her personality coming through. I can't believe how fast time is going by. It seems like yesterday I was big and pregnant and moving into our house. Every moment is precious (even if it is the moments of no sleep). We love you so much Aivree!
